Research & Writing Graduate Thesis Clinic In-Person

Join the Library and the Grad Writing Center on Saturday, June 3rd, from 10am - 2pm for a joint-sponsored event held at the Jules Bates Artrouble Center, 950 south campus: Research & Grad Writing Thesis Clinic.

At this in-person event, we'll have staff from the Graduate Writing Center and the Library discuss strategies for graduate students just beginning work on their theses.

Alfonso Huerta, Director, Outreach & Access, will give an overview of the Library's online research databases, your one-stop shop for all secondary sources.

Reuben Merringer, Director of the Graduate Writing Center, will complement this discussion with specific writing strategies to use in your thesis drafts.

We will discuss how to properly strategize your research and develop a coherent plan of action.

After a lunch break, we'll hear from Rachel Julius, Research & Instruction librarian, about how to properly cite your sources using Zotero software. After doing some group exercises on how to avoid plagiarism, we'll wrap up with a presentation by Bob Dirig, Director of Archives & Special Collections, looking at previous grad theses and the process of submitting your work.

If you're a graduate student just beginning the process of writing your thesis project, please don't miss this important opportunity to learn from ArtCenter's best resources. Our Grad Writing Center and Library staff are trained experts on many, if not all, issues you will undoubtedly come across.
